Challenge
Retained by a private developer to assist in acquiring both private sector and City-owned lands to create a mixed-use, pedestrian-orientated master plan; and finalize approvals for the new development program.
Solution
Assisted a private developer:
- In negotiations to purchase the privately held Waterloo Towne Square and adjacent lands owned by the City.
- With the creation of a Master Plan for the entire site that provides for phased re-development of the Uptown core.
- To finalize development approvals for a mixed-use project that integrates office and retail uses.
Result
The event was extremely successful – over 420,000 people attended, and it generated positive media attention throughout Canada and around the world.
